Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for an Instructor Technician in Electrical on a full time, permanent contract. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £33,191 per annum.

The Instructor Technician in Electrical Role: As our Instructor Technician Electrical, you will support lecturers in the delivery of courses offered within the College by ensuring the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of learning materials, tools, equipment and spaces. To ensure the safe use of materials, tools, equipment and spaces by all students and staff.

Responsibilities as our Instructor Technician in Electrical will include:

  • To prepare learning materials/tools/equipment for student use in taught sessions.
  • Help students develop their skills by providing hands-on practice and real-world examples during vocational sessions.
  • Keep track of students' academic information, such as attendance records and work completed, and any other records needed.
  • Handle administrative tasks e.g. ordering, receiving, and keeping records of goods and materials in the department following set procedures.
  • Distribute equipment, tools and materials to authorised staff and students.
  • Setting up workshops in preparation for lessons, practical sessions and events.
  • Assess risks of processes, equipment, facilities, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
  • Support students in the workshops as directed by Line Manager.
  • Provide support internally to the department and other areas of the College when required.
  • Repair and maintain equipment and tools to comply with Health & Safety requirements and report maintenance/unsafe items.
  • Undertake any such duties and responsibilities which may fall within the overview of such a post and grade.

As our Instructor Technician in Electrical, you'll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • A qualification in Electrical installation or similar.
  • Strong, up-to-date industry experience.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communication skills including written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet targets within set timescales.
  • Ability to work well in teams but also to work independently, with the minimum of supervision.
  • Good practical skills.
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused approach.
