Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit an Instructor/Technician in Carpentry on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,263-£25,573 per annum.

The Instructor/Technician in Carpentry Role: As the Instructor/Technician in Carpentry, you will provide technical, instructional, and health & safety support across wet trades (Carpentry and Multi-skills). Construction is based across two sites. The North Road campus consists of Brickwork, Plastering, Multi-skills, Electrical, Plumbing, Gas and Green Energy. Each area has its own workshop designed to provide students with realistic and safe working environments, supported by classrooms equipped with appropriate teaching resources.
Key Responsibilities of the Instructor/Technician in Carpentry:
- Supporting lecturers, instructors, and students in maintaining high standards of workshop operation, including preparation, clearing away, and housekeeping
- Preparing, organising, and demonstrating safe use of tools, equipment, and materials to students
- Providing technical demonstrations and supervise practical student activities where appropriate
- Maintaining, repairing, and organising tools, equipment, and workshop spaces to a high standard
- Managing stock levels, prepare and clear away materials, and maintain accurate inventory records
- Ordering materials and resources, negotiating prices and discounts to ensure value for money
- Taking responsibility for health and safety across workshops
- Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, internal policies, and safe systems of work
- Working closely with the College Health & Safety Team and Learning Managers to monitor and improve standards
About You:
- Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
- Site or labouring experience
- Background in carpentry is desirable
- Communication skills including written and verbal
- A passion for supporting the next generation of skilled workers
