The purpose of this post is to deliver high quality and effective teaching, learning and assessment to Level 3 students studying a programme of Psychology, Criminology and Law at Bournemouth and Poole College within the Science, Health and Humanities curriculum area. All students attend work placement as part of their study programme. The post holder will also act in a personal academic tutor capacity to students.
Key Responsibilities of the Lecturer in Law:
- Teach and develop skills and theory, ensuring content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives for individual teaching sessions.
- Develop a range of teaching resources and materials that meet the requirements of the specifications set by the awarding bodies, identifying learning objectives and outcomes for each session.
- Contribute to high quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods when teaching students in the classroom.
- Ensure that teaching is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard of practice.
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Demonstrate efficient and effective operation of the teaching and assessment process in line with College policy relating to quality and the requirements of the awarding body representatives.
Relevant occupational experience and/or successful teaching experience is required. A degree in Law, or Professional Qualification, which is appropriate for the role is necessary. A recognised Teaching Qualification, or be prepared to gain this Qualification within the first two years of service is also needed, along with Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths qualifications. Knowledge of professional practice of working within the UK legal system and/or criminal justice system is essential.
