Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for a Lecturer in Science on a part-time, permanent contract. In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary of £30,000 to £40,374 pro-rata. Inspire future scientists. Spark curiosity. Shape tomorrow. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer in Science to join our dynamic Science, Health & Humanities Directorate. As a Lecturer in Science, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching across Level 2 and Level 3 Science programmes, as well as Access to HE Science & Health Professions pathways
  • Develop learning materials aligned to awarding-body requirements (OCR, Pearson, CAVA)
  • Provide academic and pastoral support as a Personal Tutor
  • Offer constructive, meaningful feedback that helps students progress and succeed
  • Support learners with work placements, work-related activities and enrichment
  • Contribute to curriculum design, development and continuous quality improvement
  • Participate in open evenings, school liaison, employer engagement and wider College events.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified to degree level (or higher) in a Science discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Biomedical Science
  • Experienced in the science industry and/or successful teaching practice
  • Skilled at communicating with diverse groups of learners
  • Creative, adaptable and passionate about helping young people thrive
  • Digitally confident, with experience using VLEs and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledgeable about current teaching and learning strategies
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusivity and delivering high-quality learning
  • A teaching qualification (Level 5 or higher) is desirable, but we welcome applicants willing to work towards it.
