Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Law on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £38,645 per annum.

The purpose of this post is to deliver high quality and effective teaching, learning and assessment to Level 3 students studying a programme of Psychology, Criminology and Law at Bournemouth and Poole College within the Science, Health and Humanities curriculum area. All students attend work placement as part of their study programme. The post holder will also act in a personal academic tutor capacity to students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the recruitment and enrolment of eligible students on to range of study programmes.
  • Teach and develop skills and theory, ensuring content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives for individual teaching sessions.
  • Develop a range of teaching resources and materials that meet the requirements of the specifications set by the awarding bodies, identifying learning objectives and outcomes for each session.
  • Contribute to high quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods when teaching students in the classroom.
  • Ensure that teaching is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard of practice.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and support them with their learning.
  • Manage student issues within agreed protocols.
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective operation of the teaching and assessment process in line with College policy relating to quality and the requirements of the awarding body representatives.

About You

  • Relevant occupational experience and/or successful teaching experience.
  • Degree in Law, or Professional Qualification, which is appropriate for the role.
  • A recognised Teaching Qualification, or be prepared to gain this Qualification within the first two years of service.
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths qualifications.
  • Knowledge of professional practice of working within the UK legal system and/or criminal justice system.
  • Excellent organisational skills and communication skills including written and verbal.
