Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a Cleaning Operative on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £12.58 per hour. We are a subsidiary of Bournemouth & Poole College providing cleaning services to the College sites in both Poole and Bournemouth. SEFM are committed to maintaining the cleanliness of the college premises for the benefit of students, staff and visitors.

The SEFM (Southern Educational Facilities Management Ltd) operates its Cleaning Services Team within the Estates Department. The team works closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure vocational workspaces across the College are maintained to a high standard—clean, welcoming, and engaging with both students and staff. The Estates Department itself comprises around 80 in-house professionals, spanning Technical & Maintenance Services, Catering & Hospitality, Security & Premises, and SEFM Cleaning, all working together to provide a safe, functional, and engaging environment for the College community.

Key Responsibilities of the Cleaning Operative:

  • Deliver a ‘best in class' cleaning application at the Bournemouth & Poole College.
  • Follow Company procedures and required health and safety.
  • Keep all equipment clean and in a hygienic standard at all times.
  • Follow a daily schedule which includes cleaning of offices, classrooms, corridors, kitchens, toilets, washrooms and waste removal.
  • Weekly deep cleaning of stipulated areas.
  • Machine operating – Carpet cleaning and cleaning of hard floors.

About You:

  • Cleaning industry training
  • 2+ years' work experience in a Cleaning role
  • Knowledge in cleaning application
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive approach and an eye for detail

As a member of SEFM staff you can expect to receive a market rate salary and excellent benefits including:

  • 21.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the College (pro-rata for part-time staff) up to 5 days leave during the Christmas closure period
