Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a 1st Line Desktop Support Apprentice on a full-time, fixed term contract. In return, you will receive a £12,718 per annum.

The 1st Line Desktop Support Apprentice Role:

As our 1st Line Desktop Support Apprentice, you will provide operational and technical desktop support to College students and staff via its service points and face to face. You will use various tools to resolve a high proportion of requests at the first point of contact, and support the Team Leader in a selection of tasks, to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities as our 1st Line Desktop Support Apprentice will include:

  • Provide support to students and staff using the IT network.
  • Assist staff and students in the use of IT and AV systems and equipment.
  • Install, maintain, service, clean and repair IT, Audio Visual and presentation systems as directed.
  • Deliver, issue and receive IT systems and materials to and from staff and students as necessary.
  • Ensure that all College IT Desktop systems are well maintained and operated in accordance with sound educational practices, current health and safety regulations and report any cases of abuse of IT and presentationsystems and take appropriate remedial action.
  • Ensure that our customer enquiries are responded to in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Resolve the majority of requests for assistance at the first point of contact, using remote tools where appropriate.
  • Provide operational and technical support to our customers who contact the IT Helpdesk.
  • Attend regular briefing meetings.
  • Report any cases of abuse of IT systems to supervisors.
  • Maintaining any necessary records as directed.

As our 1st Line Desktop Support Apprentice, you\’ll ideally have:

  • 4 GCSEs, including maths and English or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience of using IT in education
  • Passion for IT & IT Systems
  • Basic knowledge of IT hardware and software applications
  • Knowledge of modern Windows Operating Systems
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Be available for evening and weekend work
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
  • Respond to emergencies outside normal working hours
  • Willingness to work across all sites
