The predicted salary is between 56000 - 56000 £ per year.

Main Purpose of the Role: Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all Air Traffic Engineering Communications, Navigational, Surveillance, AGL and Meteorological Data Gathering Systems and other associated equipment and systems in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements, and all relevant policies and procedures.

To maintain all Navigation Aids and Air Traffic Systems in compliance with the requirements of the UK CAA Safety Regulation Group publications, CAP670 Air Traffic Services Safety Requirements and applicable EASA requirements.

Maintain and support Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems including runway, taxiway, approach, stop bar, signage, and airfield electrical systems.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with engineering schedules and operational requirements.

Monitor system performance and respond promptly to technical faults, outages, and operational incidents.

Diagnose and rectify equipment faults using approved testing and diagnostic methods.

Support the installation, commissioning, and upgrade of engineering systems and airport technologies.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and technical documentation.

Ensure compliance with CAA regulations, CAP 670 requirements, EASA 2017/373 standards, ICAO standards, local procedures, and airport safety management systems.

Liaise with Air Traffic Control, Airfield Operations, contractors, and external suppliers to coordinate engineering activities.

Participate in engineering call-out arrangements to maintain operational continuity.

Support audits, inspections, safety investigations, and regulatory compliance activities.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.

Support operational continuity through effective collaboration with Air Traffic Engineering (ATE), Airside Operations and other operational stakeholders.

Support engineering response activity during operational incidents, airfield emergencies and degraded mode operations where required.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments, regulators, contractors and operational partners.

Contribute positively to the airport’s wider operational resilience, infrastructure improvement and continuous improvement programmes.

Maintain confidentiality, professionalism and data integrity at all times.

Undertake additional duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Senior Air Traffic Engineer.

Positively contribute to the airport’s operational, safety and compliance culture at all times.

Safety & Compliance Responsibilities

Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with relevant safety procedures, safe systems of work, permit systems and applicable Codes of Practice.

Operate in accordance with the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS), compliance monitoring framework and engineering assurance processes.

Comply with management of change and document control procedures within the business.

Contribute to safety risk assessments, management of change activities, investigations and wider safety assurance processes within a safety-critical operational environment.

Promptly report hazards, incidents, defects, unsafe conditions and emerging operational risks through the airport’s reporting systems.

Support compliance with CAA, DfT and aerodrome certification requirements relating to CNS & AGL systems and associated infrastructure.

Assist in maintaining the operational availability and regulatory compliance of safety-critical systems supporting aircraft operations.

Educated to HNC level or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.

In lieu of the above, successful completion of a Level 3 advance apprenticeship as delivered within an operational organisation such as but not limited to the military or railways.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on electronic, electrical or communications systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals.

Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Flexible approach to shift working, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties once qualified.

Full UK driving licence.

Previous experience within an Air Traffic Engineering environment.

Starting rate of pay is £56,000 per annum (40 hours per week) increasing to current ATE salary upon completion of level 2 training on equipment plus on-call retainer.
