Clinical Pharmacist (Independent Prescriber)
Thornton Road Surgery (CR0 9EW) - Part of Bourne Health
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Clinical Pharmacist with Independent Prescribing qualifications to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate must have either experience or a strong willingness to supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and have proven experience in conducting chronic Asthma and COPD reviews. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential.
As part of Bourne Health, the appointed Pharmacist will work within a wider pharmacy team across our Hub model, collaborating closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Clinical Medication Reviews and proactively manage patients with complex polypharmacy needs.
- Take on areas of Chronic Disease Management, developing expertise and responsibility in these areas.
- Provide primary support to GP colleagues with repeat prescribing, medication queries, and complex clinical cases.
- Support the management of low-level investigation results following strict protocols and under supervision.
- Contribute to improving the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing across the practice.

About You
- Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree and current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) (essential).
- Independent Prescribing qualification (essential).
- Experience in primary care or hospital pharmacy (desirable).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiastic about working in a forward-thinking, patient-focused environment.
