Reporting to the Design Managers, this role provides an excellent opportunity to join the long established Bourne Group Ltd with a proven (75+ yr) track record in providing excellent solutions to the construction industry. We are looking for a Document Controller to join our Engineering team, taking full ownership of the document control function for allocated projects. This includes accurate processing and coordination of documentation through Bourne Engineering’s systems, in alignment with VS EN ISO 19650-2 (BIM) standards and our broader digitalisation strategy.
Your day-to-day activities will involve operating a variety of internal and external document management systems, as required by individual project needs. Timeliness and accuracy are key in this role. You will manage the flow of drawings and information ensuring timely dissemination to project teams.
You will:
- Manage & coordinate all project systems, including receipt, checking, and distribution of client information to relevant Bourne Engineering team members, in accordance with project timelines and BIM protocols.
- Support the implementation of digital workflows and contribute to the continuous improvement of document control processes as part of Bourne’s commitment to digitalisation.
- Undertake general office administration and other tasks as reasonably required by the Bourne Engineering management team.
The role is office based in our Head Office in Poole. Whilst previous experience of document control would be advantageous, full training will be provided. The essential candidate criteria are as follows:
- Ability to understand existing technologies and processes to produce technological solutions or ideas that drive business efficiencies, particularly in line with our digitalisation strategy and BS EN ISO 19650 (BIM) standards.
- Good multitasking and organisation skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- A self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative and a can-do approach to teamwork.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and face to face.
- Strong computer literacy including database management, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong administration skills.
- Ability to maintain and provide regular updates on a diverse range of tasks.
- A proactive approach to identifying and implementing continual improvements to processes and procedures, especially through the use of digital tools and BIM-compliant workflows.
