We are seeking a solution focused and experienced General Manager to lead our team in a dynamic, high-volume, drink-led venue. The ideal candidate will have overall responsibility for the performance, profitability, and smooth operation of the entire business, overseeing all aspects of bar service, and beverage production, while also managing essential food operations in collaboration with the head chef. This pivotal position requires exceptional leadership abilities, strategic vision, administrative expertise, and an uncompromising commitment to beverage quality and safety standards. The General Manager will own the daily operations while fostering a high-performance, positive team culture focused on providing exceptional customer experiences.
Duties
- Lead and direct all daily operations of the venue, ensuring the highest standards of bar service, mixology, and guest experience are consistently met.
- Provide strategic leadership to FOH and BOH teams, setting performance goals, conducting regular reviews, and actively developing staff to maximize potential and maintain high morale.
- Take ultimate responsibility for ensuring full compliance with all licensing laws, licensing requirements, food safety regulations, and Cooksafe guidlines, maintaining superior cleanliness and organisation across all areas.
- Drive beverage profitability by collaborating with the team to develop and implement innovative, on-trend cocktail menus and beverage lists, optimising drink production and service processes to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with the area and ops managers to ensure KPI\’s are being met and implementing cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of all staff, with a strong emphasis on delivering personalised guest engagement.
- Ensure exceptional customer experiences by proactively handling escalated customer inquiries and feedback, and developing strategies to ensure satisfaction and build guest loyalty in a social setting.
- Organise and lead regular staff and management meetings, focusing on implementing actionable ideas for improving service flow and profitability.
Experience
- Extensive proven experience in a high-volume bar, lounge, or pub environment is essential, with significant time spent in a senior leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and developing large teams, specifically within a beverage-focused setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and cocktail preparation is required.
- Strong expertise in liquor licensing and responsible service practices is mandatory, along with a solid understanding of food safety regulations for auxiliary food service.
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous. Personal license, emergency first aid at work, fire warden training, food safety hygiene level 2 or 3 etc.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to motivate, inspire, and manage a diverse team of hospitality professionals.
