Key responsibilities
- Support the design, analysis and testing of power systems, three‑phase circuits, transformers and high‑voltage equipment.
- Assist with power network studies, including fault analysis, relay protection and load‑flow assessments.
- Use engineering software and tools (MATLAB, DIg SILENT Power Factory, ETAP, Python) to model and analyse electrical systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, calculations and reports to a professional standard.
- Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams on live projects, learning best practice on site and in the office.
- Apply electrical safety principles and follow relevant standards on every task.
What we're looking for
- Strong academic foundation in Electrical Engineering, with knowledge of power systems, three‑phase circuits, transformers and high‑voltage equipment.
- Understanding of power network operation and protection systems, including fault analysis, relay protection and electrical safety principles.
- Proficiency in engineering software and technical tools, such as MATLAB, DIg SILENT Power Factory, ETAP, Python and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to prepare technical documentation, analyse engineering data and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Nice to have
- A relevant placement, internship or final‑year project in power systems or energy.
- Awareness of UK standards such as BS 7671 and the G99 connection process.
- Interest in renewable energy, grid connections or electric vehicle infrastructure.
