Boundary Oak School is an ISA co-educational day and boarding school set in 30 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside outside Fareham, very close to Portsmouth and Southampton. We provide a friendly, family environment in a place rich in history, character and charm, and a wonderful place to teach and work.

Main Functions:- To have overall responsibility for the school Library (10am-2:15pm Mon-Fri, term time only - 35 weeks).
- To select, acquire, purchase, organise, advise on and promote learning resources in all formats which support the curriculum and learning and teaching in consultation with school management and other teaching staff.
- To index, catalogue and classify learning resources in the Library and develop and maintain accurate and reliable catalogue and lending systems.
- To open the Library at break-time and lunch-time.
- Oversee the layout, development and programme of use for the School Library.
- Lead on communication of Library activities to staff, pupils, parents and carers.
- To promote the use of the Library to the school community and foster an atmosphere which is conducive to positive learning experiences for users of the service. This will include ensuring a high standard of display and promotional material is available.
- Develop and oversee a system for pupils to loan study materials from the Library.
- To develop and maintain links with external agencies and sources to maximise the use of appropriate materials and information for the Library.
- To be responsible for the supervision and management of the behaviour of pupils and to have responsibility for pupil health and safety in the Library.
- Develop and train student librarians, including the allocation and supervision of clearly defined duties.
- To manage and organise resources, facilities and services provided by the Library to allow flexible access and support for curricular activities, study support, independent and recreational use.
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service provided by the Library and implement changes where necessary.
- To have professional regard for the aims, ethos, policies and practices of the school and maintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality.
- To attend and contribute to in-service training, and identify areas of personal practice and experience to develop.
- To take appropriate responsibility for safeguarding and children’s welfare and to be aware of confidential issues linked to home/child/teacher/school and keep confidences appropriately.
- Perform any reasonable duties and extracurricular activities as requested by the Headteacher or Senior Leadership Team.
