The Role

Bottomline is looking for a Java Developer/Engineer to grow with useither in a Hybrid work environment out of our Theale, Reading, UK office or remotely.

This person must be based in the United Kingdom.

How you’ll contribute

This person will:

Take part in the development and maintenance of a SAAS Platform.

• Develop and maintain the platform (coding)
• Identify and resolve incidents.
• Delivering high quality, bug free software
• Respecting customer commitments
• Assisting operations (incl. support, delivery, and pre-sales) with subject matter expertise when needed
• Providing expected effort to solve customer issues
• Understanding fully the FM (Financial Messaging) Strategy

Teamwork

• Actively participating in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Providing transparent reporting to the team, especially during daily standups
• Helping other team members to achieve their commitments

What will make you successful

• Strong/proven coding experience on backend technologies Java, especially Spring/Spring Boot framework, JPA – Must Have
• 5-8 years’ experience in Java software development.
• IT master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in computers science engineering or relevant experience.
• High understanding of Kubernetes and all phases of SDLC, experience in working with Agile methodology.
• High understanding of multi-tier architecture, Web based development and Services Oriented Architecture.
• Knowledge or experience in software design and architecture, with familiarity in both microservices and hexagonal architecture.
• Be aware of Non-Functional Requirements.
• Strong understanding of RESTful services.
• Strong analytical and algorithmic skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an aptitude for learning and innovation.
• Heightened sense of client service.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Solid experience in designing and developing with relational databases (Postgres) and SQL.
• Good knowledge of containerized platforms working with Docker and
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Maven, Bitbucket, GitLab, Jenkins

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with any Message Broker such as ActiveMQ would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of S3 environment would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of SWIFT network/banking environment would be an advantage.
• Rigorous, methodical, and organized.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Mastery in software engineering tools.
• Experience with behavior driven development.
