Bottomline is looking for an Automation & System Engineer to grow with us in a Hybrid work environment out of our Theale, Reading, UK office! It is preferred for this person to work out of our Reading, UK office one day per week, however we would consider a remote candidate who lives permanently in the United Kingdom!
We are looking for an Automation & System Engineer with strong infrastructure knowledge and hands-on experience in modern automation and DevOps principles. The role focuses on local infrastructure and requires expertise in tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting, using, and contributing to company pipelines and processes.
How you’ll contribute:
- Design, implement, and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain configuration management using Puppet and similar tools.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Ensure system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring and automation.
- Collaborate with developers and operations teams with day-to-day activities.
- Improve processes through rationalization and automation.
- Onboard new services and solutions into the infrastructure ecosystem.
- Maintain compliance with security and encryption standards.
- Remediate security flaws and enhance systems security.
- Provide transparent reporting and actively participate in team meetings.
- Contribute to the delivery of the business services, ensuring it has performance and 24x7.
- Consolidate technical stacks to improve operational readiness.
- Participate on-call schedules to ensure technical service continuity.

- Familiarity with GitOps.
- Understanding IT/Network security, certificates management, and encryption principles.
- Basic knowledge of SDLC: Java applications, microservices, and Agile methodologies.
