The Role
Bottomline is looking for a Java Developer/Engineer to grow with us either in a Hybrid work environment out of our Theale, Reading, UK office or remotely. This person must be based in the United Kingdom.
How you will contribute:
- Take part in the development and maintenance of a SAAS Platform.
- Develop and maintain the platform (coding).
- Identify and resolve incidents.
- Deliver high quality, bug free software.
- Respect customer commitments.
- Assist operations (including support, delivery, and pre-sales) with subject matter expertise when needed.
- Provide expected effort to solve customer issues.
- Understand fully the FM (Financial Messaging) Strategy.
Teamwork
- Actively participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
- Provide transparent reporting to the team, especially during daily standups.
- Help other team members to achieve their commitments.
- Share knowledge.
- Work closely with his/her team and with other teams within Financial Messaging.
- Keep in touch with latest technologies.
- Share (business/technical) ideas with the team and the management.
- Propose new development tools.
Constantly improving by:
- Actively participating in retrospectives.
- Helping others and asking for help when needed.
What will make you successful:
- Strong/proven coding experience on backend technologies Java, especially Spring/Spring Boot framework, JPA – Must Have.
- 5-8 years’ experience in software development.
- IT master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or relevant experience.
- High understanding of Kubernetes and of all phases of SDLC, experience in working with Agile methodology.
- High understanding of multi-tier architecture, web-based development and Services Oriented Architecture.
- Knowledge or experience in software design and architecture, with familiarity in both microservices and hexagonal architecture.
- Be aware of Non-Functional Requirements.
- Strong understanding of RESTful services.
- Strong analytical and algorithmic skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an aptitude for learning and innovation.
- Heightened sense of client service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Solid experience in designing and developing with relational databases (Postgres) and SQL.
- Good knowledge of containerized platforms working with Docker and hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Maven, Bitbucket, GitLab, Jenkins.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with any Message Broker such as ActiveMQ would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of S3 environment would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of SWIFT network/banking environment would be an advantage.
- Rigorous, methodical, and organized.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Mastery in software engineering tools.
- Experience with behaviour-driven development.
