The Role
Bottomline is looking for a Database Administrator II to grow with us in a Hybrid work environment out of our Theale, Reading, UK office! We are the Central database team supporting all our Product lines focusing on Database availability (uptime), performance, and data protection.
This role is for someone who has hands on experience with relational databases and is well versed with all aspects of Database administration including but not limited to Database provisioning, performance tuning, Backup and recovery, replication, and encryption.
Working hours: 2:00pm – 10:00pm (LOCAL UK TIME). This is a hybrid work environment, with 1 day in our Theale office! The remaining 4 days can be remote!
How you’ll contribute:
- Proactively identify and resolve system availability, performance concerns as well as ensure system security.
- Create and maintain replication strategies between various database environments.
- Communicate from time to time with members of Senior Leadership providing explanations to non-technical team members when necessary.

What will make you successful:
- 5-7 years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
- Additional administration experience in Oracle or MS SQL Server preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
- Experience with performance tuning utilizing indexes, disk and query optimizations, and other methods.
- Experience with database replication and failover mechanisms.
- Experience with encryption methodologies for databases.
- Experience with database clustering techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or relevant experience.
