We are a large GP Practice based in the Bodmin Area, providing healthcare for our 24,000 patients.
This role is to join our friendly and skilled nursing team to provide bloods and other related services for our patients.
We are looking for a full time post β 37.5 hours weekly, with shifts between 8.30 to 6pm daily β shift patterns can vary.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant the role covers:
- New patient health checks
- ECG recording
- Processing and management of laboratorysamples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenanceof surgical equipment.
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring,and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccinere-stocking and stock rotation, if required
- Clearing and re-stocking consultingrooms as needed.
- Preparing and maintaining environmentsand equipment before, during and after patient care interventions includingassisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment andsurveillance of patients health and well-being
- Undertaking specific clinicalactivities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specificallyin relation to that individual.
- Helping to raise awareness of healthand well-being and how it can be promoted.
- Assisting with the collection andcollation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
About us
We are a GP Practice with a large MDT team based in the heart of Cornwall. We have a fully staffed nursing team, with a full skill mix who manage our long term conditions.
We work from 3 clinical sites and provide care to patients covering all ages. We are working on projects in relation to Health Inequalities, Greener Practice, and Integrated Neighborhood teams.
We are a member of our local PCN and work closely with our PCN practice colleagues.

Job Summary:
- Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse team and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- and
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Experience of dressings
