About the Role
We are looking for a driven, commercially minded Self-Employed Sales Manager to grow advertising and sponsorship revenue across Boston VIBE and our flagship live events including the Best of Boston Awards plus others planned. This is a performance-led, commission-based role, ideal for a confident salesperson who enjoys building relationships, closing deals, and working with local and regional brands in media and events.
You will be responsible for selling advertising packages, securing event sponsorship, and managing sponsor relationships, while also providing a limited level of paid event support.
Key Responsibilities
- Advertising Sales β Boston VIBE
- Sell advertising packages across Boston VIBE, including:
- Website advertising
- Email bulletin placements
- Sponsored content
- Social media promotions
- Best of Boston Awards
- Sell tiered sponsorship packages to relevant brands and partners
- Manage sponsor relationships from initial sale through to event delivery
- Liaise with the internal events team to ensure sponsor deliverables are fulfilled
- Ensure sponsors receive a professional, high-quality experience and strong return on investment
- Provide a limited level of event management support for key events, including:
- On-site coordination support
- Basic operational assistance related to sponsors and partners
Remuneration & Payment
- This is a commission-only sales role
- You will be paid a percentage of the revenue you generate
- Commission rate to be agreed and confirmed in writing
- Payments made monthly by bank transfer, following submission of an invoice
- There is no cap on earnings β your income is directly linked to your performance
- Event support work is paid hourly and invoiced separately
Working Arrangement
- Self-employed / freelance position
- Combination of remote working, meetings, and event attendance as required
- A company email address will be provided for professional use
- You will be responsible for managing your own tax and National Insurance obligations
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in sales, sponsorship, advertising, or partnerships
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Confident presenting and closing deals
- Self-motivated, organised, and target-driven
- Comfortable working on a commission-based structure
- Experience in media sales, event sponsorship, or local business partnerships
- Strong local business network or understanding of the local market
- Experience working with SMEs, brands, or community-focused organisations
