Role Outline

Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking a lecturer to redesign and teach a core course in General, Organic and Biochemistry as part of our Spring 2027 nursing programme for Providence College students.

The new Lecturer will be required to adapt the existing Providence College course, General, Organic and Biochemistry for delivery in London. Preparatory work will be undertaken during Fall 2026, ahead of the first delivery in Spring 2027.

The General, Organic and Biochemistry course will run in the Spring semesters from Spring 2027 onwards.

Spring 2027 teaching is due to commence from the week commencing 11 January 2027. The course will be delivered in a 12-week pattern, amounting to 40 classroom contact hours, plus final exam coverage for the course, which will conclude on Friday 23 April 2027.

This is a temporary appointment with the potential to be renewed.

General, Organic and Biochemistry

This course covers the basic principles of general, organic, and biochemistry and their
applications in Nursing and Health Professions. This course aims to distil the methods and theories described in these various fields of chemistry and skills developed in the laboratory to explain the basic chemical phenomena that occur in the human body.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled, confident, and accomplished lecturer in general, organic, and biochemistry, with a proven track record in innovative, student-centred pedagogy. A PhD in a relevant discipline is required and experience as a biochemist is more relevant for this course. Applicants should possess excellent cross-cultural communication skills and a strong record of undergraduate teaching, ideally with experience supporting international or Study Abroad students.
