Role purpose

The Head of Football Development oversees all Football Development Department operations at Boston United FC up to Under 19 level, including the Academy, Elite teams, and all participation and grassroots programmes (male and female). The role covers recruitment, training, selection, coaching and leadership of the Boston United U19 Team(s) as part of the Community Foundation's Post-16 Education Programme, and liaises with the Under 23 Coach and First Team management to support football pathways within the club.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the long-term Football Development strategy for the club, working alongside the Football Development Manager and Community Manager.
  • Lead, mentor and inspire a talented coaching team, including our Women’s Manager, Player Recruitment Officers, Football Development Manager and Lead Goalkeeping Coach.
  • Take personal charge of our U19 programme — delivering coaching, running player review meetings, and preparing young players for what’s next.
  • Run Talent ID and Trial Days that bring the best emerging talent through our door.
  • Champion player welfare as Lead Safeguarding Officer for the department.
