Boston Rose are working with a leading Further Education provider to recruit a High Skills Technician within their Electrical and Electronic Engineering department based in Hillingdon. This role would suit an Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Controls or Mechatronics Engineer looking to move into education, or an experienced engineering technician seeking a varied role supporting the next generation of engineers.

Working within specialist engineering laboratories, you'll play a key role in maintaining equipment, supporting practical teaching sessions and ensuring learners have access to high-quality resources and facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and servicing electrical and electronic engineering equipment
  • Supporting practical teaching sessions across electrical, electronic, robotics and mechatronics programmes
  • Assisting lecturers with the preparation and setup of equipment and learning resources
  • Supervising students during practical and project-based activities
  • Supporting stock control and equipment inventories
  • Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Maintaining workshop and laboratory environments to a high standard

What our client is looking for:

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial experience within electrical, electronic, automation, controls or mechatronics engineering
  • Experience working with electrical equipment, PLCs, robotics or automation systems
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Strong understanding of health and safety within an engineering environment

Desirable:

  • Experience using software such as Matlab, LabVIEW, Multisim, PLC programming software or C Programming
  • Experience working with apprentices, students or trainees
  • Previous experience within education or training environments
