The Nurse Manager of Endoscopy and Interventional Radiology Nursing is responsible for the clinical and administrative management of Endoscopy services. This includes oversight of patient care delivery, staff supervision, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and coordination of resources to ensure safe and effective procedures. They will also oversee IR RN nursing practice.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Supervises and manages daily operations of the endoscopy department including oversight of evidence-based patient care during all endoscopic procedures.
- Participates in department-based CQI activities and assists staff in identifying and monitoring the quality indicators that are most pertinent to patient care goals.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other departments to coordinate patient care and procedure scheduling.
- Participates on committees, task forces, interdisciplinary forums that are concerned with patient care.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight for procedural lab services.
- Ensures efficient scheduling, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Monitors supply chain and equipment management to ensure readiness and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintains compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA).
- Leads quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Monitors and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) and clinical outcomes.
- Develops and manages departmental budget, supply inventory, including capital and operational expenses.
- Monitors productivity, cost per procedure, and financial performance metrics.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff performance for endoscopy and IR RNs.
- Develops, incorporates and maintains the standards of clinical practice as defined by the Nursing Division.
- Monitor and improve quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- 3 years of clinical nursing services experience, with at least 2 years in Endoscopy or procedural nursing, and at least 1 year of prior management or leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current RN License in the State of Massachusetts is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of Endoscopy Regulatory Compliance and standards of practice.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook.
- Ability to work and lead collaboratively.
- Knowledge of EMR systems.
- Familiar with endoscopy equipment, technology and procedures.
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in nursing preferred
- Experience managing in a unionized environment preferred
- GI/endoscopy-specific certification (e.g., CGRN) preferred
