A leading Climate Change Research Body is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join their technology team on an initial six-month contract. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of applied AI initiatives, helping transform concepts into working prototypes that deliver measurable organisational value. Working alongside internal technical teams, you will develop and validate AI-driven solutions using Microsoft and Azure technologies, while ensuring effective knowledge sharing and documentation throughout the engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deliver AI proof-of-concept solutions within a Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Develop intelligent search, knowledge retrieval and conversational AI capabilities.
- Create prototypes focused on automation, document analysis, summarisation and workflow optimisation.
- Support predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making initiatives.
- Produce clear technical documentation, implementation notes and handover materials.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to demonstrate outcomes and refine solutions.
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure AI services, including Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search and Azure Machine Learning.
- Proven experience building AI agents and agentic workflows using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio and Azure AI services.
- Proven track record delivering AI prototypes, pilots or innovation projects.
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering and knowledge-grounded AI solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams and Copilot-related technologies.
- Understanding of security, governance, data privacy and responsible AI principles.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and support knowledge transfer to internal teams.
