Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager

The Role We are looking for a Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Manager to lead and further develop our governance, risk, compliance and sustainability frameworks.

This is a key role, responsible for helping Boston Energy meet its legal, regulatory, customer and ISO obligations while maintaining high standards of quality, integrity and accountability.

You will have the opportunity to shape responsible business practices, strengthen our Integrated Management System and make a tangible contribution within the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead governance, risk and compliance activity across the business, ensuring effective policies, frameworks, controls and reporting are in place.
  • Maintain and develop the company risk register, ensuring risks, controls, mitigations and actions are regularly reviewed, updated and reported.
  • Oversee the company’s Integrated Management System and audit programme, ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements, in collaboration with the HSE Manager where appropriate.
  • Monitor, review and report on quality standards, regulatory compliance, customer requirements and relevant industry frameworks.
  • Lead on data protection, supporting compliance with data protection legislation, internal policies and good information governance practices.
  • Support bids, tenders and customer contract reviews by providing clear compliance, governance and risk input.
  • Lead on ESG, driving staff engagement, sustainability reporting and external validation activities such as Eco Vadis and Achilles.
  • Manage and support the GRC team, promoting risk awareness, practical mitigation, training and continual improvement.

About You We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and relevant experience in governance, risk, compliance, sustainability or management systems.

You will be collaborative, practical and able to communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.

  • Relevant experience in compliance, governance, risk management, sustainability or management systems; experience in energy, renewables or infrastructure would be helpful but is not essential.
  • Working knowledge of GRC frameworks, ISO management systems and corporate governance principles.
  • Experience supporting sustainability reporting, internal auditing and external audit preparation.
  • Sound judgement, integrity and the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work with stakeholders at different levels.
  • A degree or relevant professional qualification is welcome, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • ISO Lead Auditor certification is desirable but not essential.
