About the Role
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our growing team in Billingham.
This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate records, and supporting employees with payroll-related queries.
Working closely with the Payroll and Finance teams, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and efficiently while providing excellent administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data.
- Process timesheets, expenses, overtime, and absence records.
- Support the administration of pensions, statutory payments, and other payroll deductions.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with payroll reporting and reconciliation activities.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.
- Support Finance and Operations teams with general administrative tasks as required.
- Assist with audits and payroll documentation when needed.
- Liaise with payroll provider.
About You
The successful candidate will
- Have excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Be confident working with numbers and payroll data.
- Have strong organisational and time management skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Have previous payroll, finance, or administration experience (preferred but not essential).
