Food Safety Officer

Passionate about food safety but unable to commit to a full-time role? We have just the job for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and fully qualified Food Safety Officer to join our team in a part-time capacity (26 hours, working pattern to be discussed).

The role

Your role will include:

  • Food hygiene inspections and other official controls
  • Food hygiene and food premises complaint investigations
  • Food law enforcement
  • Sampling
  • Infectious disease investigation
  • Port Health Authority duties (ship sanitation inspections)
  • Quayside inspections of Boston’s fishing fleet
  • Official shellfish controls

You will be working in the Environmental Health team as part of the wider Regulatory Directorate.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual with a commitment to deliver top quality regulatory services.

As a Food Safety Officer, you will:

  • Have achieved the baseline qualification (Higher Certificate in Food Control) or equivalent.
  • Have experience of carrying out official food safety controls in a local authority environment.
  • Manage a varied workload.
  • Have the knowledge and skills to take enforcement action where appropriate.
  • Work as part of a wider team who are committed to providing excellent services for our residents.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
