We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

BCG is looking for a Senior Director-level Enterprise Architect to lead the data strategy and architecture for BCG, focused on our internal functions. The heart of this role is to define and continuously evolve the north star for data in our organization, setting the direction of travel for data governance, data architecture and technology. You will partner with a broad variety of other Enterprise Architects and internal stakeholders and will work to communicate our strategy and approach at all levels of the organization, driving our digital teams forward towards that north star.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Working at pace, in close collaboration with our functions and data layer teams.
  • Energizing our people to see the possibilities for efficiency, effectiveness of using modern data thinking, methods, and architecture, creating, and then evangelizing the north star across our organization.
  • Defining the future data architecture and operating model based on modern thinking including data mesh, data lakes, domain driven architecture and using UX techniques to uncover high value user journeys.
  • Collaborating far and wide in the organization to identify high value use cases, sell the north star vision and drive our digital organization towards modern data architecture methods, governance, and technologies.
  • Finding great answers to complex and ambiguous questions, and connecting and collaborating across teams to develop their data architectures; you will seek diverse views, and with a growth mindset consider both conventional and unconventional answers.
  • Rolling up your sleeves and “doing”, pioneering the way forward and bringing others along with you. You produce high-quality Enterprise Architecture arguments and supporting materials. You are adept at agreeing these at different levels in the organization using a variety of presentation vehicles.
  • Applying modern methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, Lean, Design/Product thinking and UI/UX to your work and encouraging others to adopt and use these methods.
  • You will be passionate about technology, knowledgeable and conversant with modern computing paradigms and always curious and driven to learn more and applying this to your work; you will demonstrate expertise in modern digital thinking including domain driven design, data mesh, data lake, APIs, microservices, cloud, GenAI, etc.
  • Optimizing your own role and delivering results; you understand that architecture is part of a value stream where we need to play our part in being efficient to help increase velocity and reduce risk across the architecture team and the teams we work with.
  • Holding the line on standards, patterns and ways of doing things, avoiding tactical implementations and tech debt for the long term interests of BCG.

What You’ll Bring

  • You will either have been a consultant or exhibit strength in the essential qualities of a consultant, able to engage in a complex organization to understand the current state and problems, formulate strategic direction and then gain buy in to this direction at all levels of the organization.
  • 12+ years’ experience leading and owning the enterprise architecture of a significant data estate; this includes managing the value, opportunities, inventory, roadmaps, rationalization, and total cost for the data technology portfolio.
  • Significant experience and success in working in a highly matrixed organization with a flat structure where direction is set by the best arguments, not by seniority.
  • Your experience will include multiple successful examples of autonomously: Setting the strategic direction (north star) for data in complex organizations, in this regard you will be highly value orientated rather than technology orientated.
  • Moving forward a plan to implement the north star and achieving benefits in various dimensions of meeting requirements, improving functionality/services, cost reduction/rationalization and efficiencies through ongoing automation.
  • Leading decisions through to a conclusion in a highly matrixed organization with minimal supervision.
  • Preparing materials for, and presenting at, senior levels including C-Suite; you must be a storyteller with a strategic mindset able to create brilliant arguments and supporting materials.

Who You’ll Work With

You will be directly reporting into the Enterprise Architecture team and work with a diverse set of teams and at all levels in the organization, including regular contact with senior leaders and product teams.
