BCG is seeking an accomplished senior lawyer to spearhead the strategy and support for its expanding AI business with an initial focus on IP and data assets. Your mission: to unlock the full potential of these assets, maximize their value, and mitigate associated risks through innovative, expert-led approaches.
- Have deep knowledge and proven expertise in developing and managing data and IP assets and develop specific strategies tailored to product and business needs.
- Be a seasoned and skilled IP lawyer, recognized in the industry, with a core competency and proven track record in AI, digital, IP, data or software businesses, and curiousness for new and emerging technologies.
- Be able to develop and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Have a systematic approach to understanding and communicating legal positions both within the legal team and across the organization, specifically in rapidly evolving technical areas – creating expertise knowledge that is easily leveraged by commercial teams and others and ensures legal practices incorporate the best, most current thinking.
- Have the ability to engage with senior business stakeholders to translate legal expertise into actionable business strategy, benchmark and adapt GTM approach and drive the implementation across the organization.
- Be comfortable in a fast-paced global organisation and confident in regular interactions with senior business leaders supporting making decisions that require intellectual nimbleness, pragmatism, risk awareness and commercial acumen.
- In all cases, BCG's Executive Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to efficiently deliver high quality work, and will have substantial experience effectively advising on and negotiating large commercial programs by deploying a strategic, outcome-based perspective to transactions.
- Ability to address root causes behind issues, identify patterns, comprehend the big picture and long-term implications.
- Proven ability to perform rigorous and accurate analysis.
- Enabling teams and rolling out actionable legal strategies across an international organisation.
- Work management, organisation and planning.
- Qualified lawyer with excellent academics and 15+ years legal experience with a proven record of work in digital, technology, IP or software businesses. Preferably, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience. Law firm experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to lead negotiations in collaboration with senior business and represent BCG in complex client negotiations focused on data or IP matters.
- The ability to draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including client engagements, licensing agreements, data sharing, outsourcing agreement, subcontractor and partnership agreements.
- The credibility to develop, implement and champion BCG IP policies and processes while also providing commercial support to those who seek approvals on deviations of contract or other policies.
- The ability to quickly comprehend complex sets of international laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG's global policies.
This role will involve regular interaction with executive leadership to address complex legal and strategic issues related to IP, patents and data.
