What You'll Do
BCG is transforming how we build our brand, engage clients and talent, and leverage data, AI, and digital channels to drive commercial impact at scale. Central to this ambition is how the world finds, evaluates, and engages with BCG — whether through our website, traditional search, or the rapidly growing ecosystem of AI-powered discovery tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and generative search features embedded across Google and Bing. As the Web & Content Discoverability Senior Director, you will own the full stack that makes BCG's thought leadership and commercial content visible, credible, and authoritative across every discovery surface. This is a senior leadership role spanning multiple disciplines — with direct accountability for the teams, technology, and governance that underpin all of it. This role sits at the intersection of editorial strategy, digital product, and marketing technology. You will report into the head of Digital Marketing and Executive Director and partner closely with our editorial, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure that what BCG publishes reaches the audiences who need it — and that BCG is consistently surfaced and cited as a leading voice across both traditional and AI-driven search.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Own the strategic roadmap for BCG.com, including site architecture, information hierarchy, tagging models, and technical performance — proactively evolving capabilities to match market trends and search algorithm changes.
- Define and own BCG's end-to-end content discoverability strategy, spanning traditional SEO, emerging LLM-based Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and the underlying tech infrastructure.
- Serve as the internal authority on emerging discovery technologies, including LLM citation patterns, AI overviews, and zero-click search trends.
- Lead a globally dispersed team across multiple digital disciplines — setting direction, developing talent, and building a high-performing, psychologically safe team culture.
- Own and steward a multi-million dollar annual budget, ensuring spend is aligned to strategy and delivering measurable returns.
- Ensure content discoverability governance frameworks, standards, and playbooks are adopted across the organization.
- Define and track KPIs that connect discoverability performance to commercial outcomes — reporting regularly to senior marketing leadership.
- Steer functional teams in overseeing and optimizing web development and publishing workflows, coordinating with Product Owners and engineering to optimize enabling technologies.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
- Aligning stakeholders around a shared discoverability vision and holding the line on quality and strategic focus under competing priorities.
- Translating technical SEO concepts and AI-driven search mechanics into plain language that resonates with author teams, editors, senior leaders, and everyone in between.
- Engaging senior marketing stakeholders and advising ensuring discoverability roadmap is comprehensive and aligned to business value.
- Aligning multiple Product Owners and functional teams toward a shared goal, while navigating complex organizational structures and dependencies.
- Balancing assertiveness and empathy to influence senior stakeholders across a variety of backgrounds.
- Building strong interpersonal relationships and coordinating across a matrixed organization.
- Proactively challenging the status quo and suggesting improvements, while inspiring positive collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Fostering a high-performing, psychologically safe culture rooted in continuous learning and development.
What You'll Bring
- 15+ years of experience in SEO, web content marketing, and/or digital marketing, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated success owning and scaling digital marketing programs, especially on website evolution, content optimization and search.
- Deep expertise in technical SEO, content optimisation, structured data, and search algorithm dynamics.
- Proven track record developing Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) strategies, with working knowledge of how LLMs surface, cite, and summarise content.
- Strong analytical proficiency with tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, HubSpot, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience in global, matrixed organizations (experience in professional services/consulting preferred).
- Experience building, managing, and developing high-performing specialist teams across functional and technical domains.
- Demonstrated expertise in product management, managing scrum a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and present complex insights with clarity.
