About the Role: We're seeking a highly motivated Production Manager to lead our Solvent Adhesives department at our Stafford site. With responsibility for a team of 30 and an operating budget of €1.5 million, this role is pivotal in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production within a complex chemical manufacturing environment. You'll be accountable for delivering operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a strong safety culture. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strategic thinking, strong team development skills, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety & Culture
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations
- Lead cultural and behavioural change initiatives to embed safety-first thinking
- Production Management
- Organise and oversee daily production activities to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Manage production schedules and optimise resource allocation
- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements to maximise throughput and asset efficiency
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 30 staff
- Ensure training and compliance with HSE, quality, and operational procedures
- Maintain visibility on the shop floor and engage regularly with staff and contractors
- Process & Systems Improvement
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Minimise waste and enhance process reliability
- Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, and maintenance to ensure smooth operations
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, and quality regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits and internal reviews
- Support CAPEX planning and manage minor projects
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (with strong chemical industry experience)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in production management, ideally within a chemical plant
- NEBOSH Certificate or strong understanding of HSE regulations preferred
- Proven leadership in manufacturing environments
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English and willing to travel as required
