Our client is seeking a Storage Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and operational support of large-scale, high-performance storage systems. This role is central to enabling innovative, data-intensive engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities for the Storage Engineer:- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance storage systems across large-scale environments.
- Collaborate with computing teams and engineers to ensure infrastructure supports advanced research activities.
- Monitor storage system performance and proactively identify improvements.
- Provide leadership on storage strategy, project planning, and technical documentation.
- Serve as a key advisor on system architecture, software, and data management practices.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging storage technologies to influence future system designs.
- Strong Linux system administration experience (GNU/Linux).
- Deep understanding of Linux filesystems, NFS/CIFS, PXE, DHCP, and DNS.
- Proven experience with high-performance filesystems (e.g. GPFS, Lustre).
- Scripting proficiency (Bash, Python, Perl or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Degree in Computing, Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with object storage or low-latency networks (e.g., InfiniBand).
- Exposure to modern system monitoring tools.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, LPIC, MCSE).
