As a PMO Consultant, you will be the operational backbone of our programme delivery capability, bringing structure, insight, and discipline to complex, multi-workstream transformation initiatives. You will embed robust governance, drive operational cadence, and ensure programme leadership has the information, controls, and confidence needed to make the right decisions at the right time. You will work across digital, data, and ERP transformation programmes, collaborating closely with consultants, client stakeholders, and senior executives to maintain accuracy, transparency, and momentum throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance & Methodology
- Define and embed programme governance structures, delivery methodologies, and PMO standards.
- Coordinate key governance forums (Steering Committees, Design Authorities, PMO forums).
- Prepare agendas, briefing packs, papers, meeting minutes, and action/decision logs.
- Drive follow-through on decisions, ensuring commitments are fully executed.
- Planning & Milestone Management
- Define planning standards and maintain integrated programme plans, high-level roadmaps, and dependency maps.
- Partner with workstream leads to collect progress updates, challenge assumptions, and validate delivery forecasts.
- Ensure critical path visibility and proactively highlight slippage or conflicts.
- RAID & Controls Management
- Own and maintain RAID registers with clear owners, mitigations, timelines, and escalation pathways.
- Identify emerging risks early and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Support overall programme controls, compliance, and governance assurance activities.
- Reporting & Insights
- Produce high-quality weekly dashboards and monthly executive status reports (scope, schedule, cost, risk, decisions).
- Ensure alignment between status, metrics, financials, and programme KPIs.
- Distil complex programme updates into clear, concise insights for senior stakeholders.
- Financial & Commercial Administration
- Support financial tracking, including time capture, forecasting, POs, accruals, and budget vs. actuals.
- Maintain financial governance data required for programme oversight and decision-making.
- Change Control
- Manage the end-to-end change control process: logging, triage, impact analysis, and updates to registers.
- Support workstream leads in preparing cost, scope, and timeline impact assessments.
- Resource Management & Onboarding
- Maintain an accurate view of resource demand, capacity, and utilisation.
- Manage joiner-mover-leaver processes and coordinate onboarding for new team members.
- Support role definition and resourcing processes when new needs arise.
- Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain structured PMO repositories (SharePoint/Confluence) with consistent templates and version control.
- Ensure documentation, governance evidence, and deliverables are audit-ready.
- Support internal and external assurance reviews.
- Tools & PMO Enablement
- Act as a first-line support for PMO tools (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project/Smartsheet, Jira/Confluence, SharePoint).
- Drive consistency in how tools are used across the programme.
Required Skills & Experience
- Min. 3 years’ experience in a PMO, project support, consulting role (strong internships considered).
- Strong Excel capability (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and ability to build crisp, executive-ready PowerPoint materials.
- Experience working with collaboration and delivery tools such as SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail, structure, and follow-through.
- Confident communicator who can simplify complex information and engage senior stakeholders professionally.
- Understanding of core delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and standard PMO processes.
- Experience in consulting or technology-led transformation environments (advantageous).
Qualifications
- PRINCE2 Foundation, Agile/Scrum Foundation, or equivalent certifications (desirable).
- Degree in Business, Management, Information Systems, or similar discipline.
