We are looking for an experienced Engineering Design Manager to run the small design team (3 Design Engineers and 1 CNC programmer) within Boss Cabins. This is a hands-on role of product design, so experience as a mechanical design engineer is necessary.
- Allocating work and prioritising to meet the demands of production, sales, service and new research and development.
- Management of design staff (4 direct reports).
- Interpreting design briefs and providing creative solutions to design problems.
- Creating 3D models using PTC Creo.
- FEA analysis of parts and assemblies using PTC Creo-Simulate.
- Creating detail drawings for manufacture for a range of parts using many different production processes.
- Taking products through the design process from conception all the way to production.
- Liaising with suppliers to source parts.
- Interaction with in-house manufacturing during production to improve efficiency through better design.
- Creating and updating bills of materials in Syspro.
- Keeping design technical files up to date.
- Adhering to relevant legislation for trailer design (VCA).
- Testing of products and new ideas.
- Assisting service with solutions to on-site problems.
Qualifications: Ideally degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Relevant Experience: Worked as a design engineer, ideally a senior role for 5 years. Worked within small to medium manufacturing businesses. Experience of 3D design of sheet metal fabrication and large assemblies. Knowledge of electrics, hydraulics and plumbing systems.
