Job Description

Make your mark as Survey Lead for Boskalis Subsea Services in Aberdeen. You will be accountable for the planning, co-ordination, and safe execution of survey activities across all Boskalis Subsea Services Limited (BSSL) projects and vessels, ensuring compliance with regulatory, industry (IMCA), and company (CMS) standards. As the primary interface between BSSL and all survey service providers, the role ensures that operational requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and effectively delivered. The Survey Lead drives efficiency, quality, and value for money in survey operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and technical integrity in support of BSSL’s operational objectives. In addition, the role is responsible for establishing and developing BSSL’s remote survey operations, enabling effective integration between offshore and onshore survey functions. This includes defining operating models, implementing standardised processes and QC frameworks, and supporting the development of training and competence systems to deliver scalable remote survey capability.

Your responsibilities as Survey Lead:

  • Support the commercial department with tender opportunities, providing clear survey input and solutions
  • Support Crewing and Competence in maintaining a steady, well-qualified survey workforce via BSS’s survey provider
  • Support projects and clients in defining and delivering survey requirements across offshore and remote operations, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and delivery
  • Support equipment preparation to meet project requirements, including collation of pre-mobilisation audits and certification packages
  • Assume BSS’s survey provider’s project main point of contact when required
  • Develop and implement the BSS Remote Operations Centre (ROC) to support survey operations
  • Define and standardise processes for remote and hybrid survey delivery, including data QC, monitoring, and reporting
  • Integrate ROC capabilities into project execution in collaboration with internal teams and survey providers

Qualifications

You can make your mark as Survey Lead if you have:

  • Recognised qualification in surveying, hydrography, geomatics, or a related discipline with academic certification.
  • Demonstrable understanding of survey and ROV systems, their integration, and application in diving and subsea construction.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ offshore experience at Senior Surveyor or Party Chief level, including mobilisation and execution of survey scopes.
  • Proven experience in survey-related project engineering or subsea operations.
  • Working knowledge of IMCA and relevant standards, including guidelines for survey competence and offshore operations.
  • Familiarity with frame agreements and coordination with external survey vendors and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise across multi-disciplinary teams and organisational levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to present technical information clearly.
