Job Description

Make your mark as an ROV Technical Support Engineer in the Remote Technology Group, for Boskalis Subsea Services located in Aberdeen. The ROV Technical Support Engineer will provide expert technical assistance for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems used in BSS subsea operations. They will support internal teams and external clients, both onshore and offshore, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime of ROV assets.

The ROV Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and operational assistance for in-house ROV systems, along with supporting the design and development of specialist tooling for ROV operations. This includes the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of ROV equipment, as well as supporting offshore operations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of ROVs in various underwater tasks.

Boskalis have LWROV and WROV's in their fleet of ROV systems. The role includes responsibilities related to supporting remote operations from the Remote Operations Centre (ROC).

Your responsibilities as ROV Technical Support Engineer (Onshore):

  • Provide real-time technical support to ROV teams and Project teams during subsea operations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and software issues on ROV systems and related equipment.
  • Maintain detailed records of technical issues, repairs & planned maintenance of systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams / OEMs on continuous improvement, upgrades, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the installation, integration, and commissioning of new ROV systems and sub systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for critical failures and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

Qualifications

You can make your mark as Technical Support Engineer (Onshore) if you have:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with ROV systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Experience with ROV brands such as Saab Seaeye, Kystdesign & associated tooling used in execution of offshore projects.
  • Strong understanding of subsea control systems, hydraulics, fiber optics, and electronics.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools/software used in ROV troubleshooting and proficient in reading engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and system layouts.
  • Experience in supporting remote operations and familiarity with ROC protocols an advantage.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IMCA, API, ISO).
  • Ability to work under pressure/respond quickly to critical technical issues with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
