Job Description

Make your mark as ROC ROV Senior Pilot Technician (Onshore) at Boskalis Subsea Services in Aberdeen. You will be responsible for or executing high-precision remotely operated vehicle (ROV) tasks from the Boskalis Remote Operations Centre (ROC), supporting real-time subsea inspection, intervention, and survey activities. Operating with advanced control platforms and live communication systems, the Senior Pilot Technician ensures safe and efficient mission execution in collaboration with offshore teams and ROC ROV Supervisors.

In addition to piloting responsibilities, the role provides operational support and technical guidance to ROC ROV Pilot Technicians, contributing to shift continuity, system readiness, and competence development.

Your responsibilities as a ROC ROV Senior Pilot Technician:

The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to;

  • Pilot and control Work-Class and light Work-Class ROVs from the ROC using digital control systems and remote telemetry interfaces.
  • Execute subsea operations such as asset inspection, survey, intervention, and light tooling in alignment with mission plans and safety protocols.
  • Monitor system performance, video feeds, sonar data, and sensor outputs to support precise navigation and task execution.
  • Assist the ROC Supervisor in planning, preparing, and executing daily operations, including virtual pre-dive checks and system readiness tasks.
  • Collaborate with offshore technicians and engineers to support fault diagnosis and live troubleshooting during operations.
  • Mentor and provide on-shift guidance to ROC ROV Pilot Technicians, supporting their technical development and operational confidence.
  • Ensure accurate completion of dive logs, video recording, and reporting documentation in accordance with company and project standards.

Qualifications

Your Qualities and Qualifications

You can make your mark as an ROC ROV Senior Pilot Technician if you have:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years ROV experience operating WROVs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in piloting, intervention, and tooling operations
  • Prior experience with remote piloting systems or digital ROV control platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with LWROVs and WROVs (e.g., Kystdesign, Seaeye) and associated subsea tooling
  • Strong working knowledge of subsea navigation systems, video capture, and data logging Demonstrated understanding of subsea operational environments (e.g. inspection, observation, and light intervention scopes) – desirable.
  • Technical Qualification: Recognised qualification in electronics, robotics, hydraulics, or marine engineering
  • Competence: IMCA Company Member Competence Certificate or Portfolio for R02 – Senior ROV Pilot.
  • ROV Introductory Training: successful completion of an IMCA-approved ROV Introductory Training course (IMCA R002 compliant), with valid certification – desirable.
  • Problem-solving and initiative: Seeks feedback and engages in CPD activities to enhance technical and operational capabilities.
  • Teamwork and communication: Works collaboratively, follows instructions, and contributes to a positive, safety-focused team environment.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards: Consistently applies safety procedures and maintains high operational integrity.
  • OPITO approved BOSIET with CA-EBS, MIST (for UKCS only) and OEUK Medical (including Bi-Deltoid shoulder measurements.

  • Full/part- time job: The position of ROC ROV Senior Pilot Technicianis a permanent role and will be offered on a Guaranteed Days Contract basis.
