Make your mark as an Accounts Assistant at Boskalis! The Accounts Assistant supports maintaining accurate financial records, transactions and reports for companies within the UK Group. This involves tasks related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing and general bookkeeping. The role is key in ensuring financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements, whilst also providing day-to-day support within the finance team and wider business, helping to ensure queries are resolved efficiently and processes run smoothly.

Main Tasks

  • Oversee cashbook preparations and cashbook posting.
  • Process and post petty cash and vessel cash returns.
  • Administration of the prepaid expense cards, including issuing new cards, arranging top ups and processing and posting card expense returns.
  • Reconcile cash advance ledger accounts.
  • Maintain sales ledger and prepare the debtors reports for chasing of overdue invoices.
  • Other sales and purchase ledger support tasks as required.
  • Prepare and process intercompany recharges.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany recharges, prepayments, other debtors and bank & cash.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and oversee depreciation posting.
  • Ad hoc support to Finance Manager and Project Controllers where required.
  • Other accounting and administrative tasks as required.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting environment.
  • AAT or similar qualifications desirable, or qualified by experience.
  • Good knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with cashbook postings and expense processing.
  • Experience with bank and ledger reconciliations and control activities.
  • Basic knowledge of purchase ledger related taxes (VAT, CIS etc.).
  • Good IT skills (including Excel) and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
  • Proficient in data entry and data management, with a high level of accuracy.
  • Confident dealing with colleagues across a variety of company locations.

  • Where you will work: You will be working predominantly at Westminster House in Fareham, Hampshire, UK. Whilst the role is based in Fareham, we offer up to 2 days a week hybrid working.
  • Full/part‑time job: The position of Accounts Assistant is a full‑time job – 37.5 hours a week.
  • Permanent/Fixed Term: This is a 1 year fixed term position.
