How you can make your mark at Boskalis Subsea Services as a Remote Operations IT Communications Specialist based in Aberdeen. You will report directly to the Head of Remote Operations and be responsible for providing dedicated IT support to the Remote Operations Centre. The role ensures that all ROC IT systems, interfaces, and equipment are robust, secure, reliable, and up to date, supporting uninterrupted remote operations. This includes day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, system maintenance, upgrades, and coordination with internal IT teams, vendors, and offshore operations.
Responsibilities
- Support IT systems and users within the Remote Operations Centre (ROC).
- ROC control room workstations and operator environments.
- Network, communication, and connectivity systems.
- Interfaces between ROC systems, vessels, and offshore operations.
- Hardware, peripherals, and specialist ROC equipment.
- Coordinate between ROC, internal IT and external vendors.
- Day-to-day running of ROC IT equipment and systems.
- Monitor and maintain ROC IT infrastructure.
- Understand the end-to-end architecture of the ROC systems from ROC to remote vessels and/or worksites.
- Monitor system performance and equipment health.
- Plan and execute system updates, patches, and upgrades to avoid interruptions to ROC operations.
- Report, track, and follow up equipment issues with vendors and suppliers.
- Liaise with HQ IT, central IT, and internal support teams as required.
- Provide IT support to offshore operations and hardware where required.
- Support secure and reliable connectivity between the ROC and vessels (Boka fleet) or offshore sites.
- Ensure ROC systems comply with Boskalis IT and cybersecurity standards.
- Support access control, system security, and incident reporting.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-8 years IT experience in a marine environment.
- Experience working within the Subsea Sector of the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Working knowledge of Remote Operations, Control Room, or operational IT environments is an advantage.
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks and objectives in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- High attention to detail and flexibility during busy periods.
