About the Role

Reporting to the Controller, the Project Accountant will monitor project financials, analyze variances, support forecasting, and ensure financial data related to projects is complete and accurate. This position will play a key role in providing project financial information to management and ensuring accurate reporting of project positioning. The ideal candidate will bring Business Central, Excel, and data system expertise, along with a strong project accounting background.

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $31.50/hr. - $38.50/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Track and monitor project costs, budgets, and revenue throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and maintain project financial reports and variance analyses
  • Work with project managers to review project performance and forecast financial outcomes
  • Support monthly project revenue recognition and WIP analysis
  • Reconcile project-related accounts and ensure financial accuracy
  • Assist with project setup including budgets, billing structures, and cost codes
  • Review timesheets, expenses, and subcontractor costs allocated to projects
  • Assist with billing and invoicing tied to project milestones or progress
  • Identify financial risks or overruns and communicate them to project teams
  • Support month-end close activities related to project accounting
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for project financial transactions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in project-based environments (engineering, construction, manufacturing, or professional services)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with Business Central, SQL databases, Power Query, and Power BI
  • Experience with project costing, WIP, and revenue recognition preferred
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with non-finance teams
