About the role:
Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service is the local authority’s direct provider of adult education. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed individual to join us as a part-time Assessor, supporting our childcare programmes. In this role, you will assess learners on Level 1 and Level 2 childcare qualifications, ensuring that all portfolios meet internal verification standards and you will play a key role in learners successfully achieving their qualifications. This is a flexible, part-time position, with working hours to be agreed upon appointment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and carry out assessments, including workplace observations, to support learners to complete on time
- Assess learner work against qualification standards and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate assessment records in line with awarding body and internal quality requirements
- Liaise with internal verifiers, colleagues, and employers to ensure quality and consistency
- Support learners throughout their programme, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Recent experience of assessing vocational qualifications, including use of e-portfolios
- Current occupational competence in childcare
- Relevant assessor qualification (e.g. A1, D32/D33, or equivalent)
- Minimum Level 2 English and Maths
- Experience of teaching or training in an adult learning environment
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and across different venues
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and supporting learners with additional needs
