About the role:

Organisational Development sits within Workforce and Culture in the Chief Executive's Directorate. We work across directorates to ensure that staff can succeed in their roles and have opportunities for continuous learning and development. We work with managers and staff to develop their professional capabilities and skills for missions-based working, including soft skills, teamwork, and leadership, so that we can work together to deliver Mission Waltham Forest. At our heart, we are fundamentally people-centred, seeking to help our staff achieve their best. We work with staff from when they first join the Council, ensuring that they have a good understanding of Council processes and how local government operates. We offer a variety of learning opportunities for staff, including one-off and regular training, online courses, support for learning on the job, and apprenticeships. We also play a key role in driving cultural and behavioural change across the Council. When change is needed in one area, we work to embed it consistently throughout all Council processes, ensuring a unified approach. Through this, we are building a strong culture of performance and development, where continuous learning and improvement become a shared responsibility across all staff and services.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Support the Organisational Development Team to regularly engage with the workforce, respond to opportunities and challenges to ensure Waltham Forest is a great place to work
  • Be part of the team to deliver a new Leadership Framework and development programme, to ensure Waltham Forest leaders have the skills to be inclusive and creative in all aspects of the Council
  • Support the creation of career pathways for Waltham Forest communities into the Council and within our existing workforce to ensure every individual can achieve their full potential.
  • Support the delivery of culture change projects to build on employee and organisational performance across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise data to make informed decisions about the approach to Organisational Development
  • Coordinate and support the development and delivery of effective organisational development initiatives.
  • Support the development of a learning culture that promotes the ongoing development of staff and collaboration between teams.
  • Manage the communications of the OD Team, ensuring that excellent customer service is maintained
  • Manage capacity to provide support across a range of OD initiatives and work with all team members effectively

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent or vocational qualification in relevant subject or area
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of researching emerging trends and approaches to support the achievement of organisational development priorities.
  • Understanding of Organisational Development initiatives and the links to supporting organisational performance.
  • Experience updating, reviewing and refreshing of online content to support customers understand the service offer
  • Experience producing and analysing management information
