About the role:

The Reconciliation Officers are a team of 3 full-time officers - 2 working on income & 1 on payment reconciliation. Daily activity is to maintain the income process with & the income system used (Adelante) which integrates with the Financial System. Ensuring systems are operating optimally, dealing with queries from services, Finance colleagues & service users ensuring that income recovered is allocated correctly & accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Head of Financial Systems
  • Action daily postings of money in and out of the Council and reconcile all relevant general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Analyse bank account entries, reconcile to ledger and liaise with bank regarding queries.
  • Reconcile the Council’s bank accounts monthly dealing with all queries that arise.
  • Support Budget Monitoring and Closedown processes ensuring postings are made and queries received are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain Suspense Account to help ensure the delay to postings to finance system ledger is minimised.
  • Provide financial information to colleagues and deal with External Auditors and FOI requests as required.
  • An understanding of the income and finance system integration, ensure both are providing a single source of truth and any discrepancies are investigated swiftly.
  • Assist in identifying improvements to systems/processes to help the reconciliation process.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Educated to A level or equivalent work experience and training
  • Excellent ICT skills, including high proficiency in Excel and Word & experience of using finance systems
  • Excellent standards of written and verbal English
