About the role
To work within the council's policy and legislative frameworks to ensure borough-wide service is delivered within the required standards through a Neighborhood approach. To work as part of a professional team and support the manager in dealing with all aspects of Street Trading. This includes having substantial expert knowledge of Street Trading and Markets, extensive legislative knowledge, and the ability to apply it. To investigate offences to a high standard with minimal supervision, take appropriate action to achieve compliance, and see the bigger picture. Routine inspections are required, and the role demands excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with licence holders, business owners, and members of the public. Accurate record‑keeping in finances, administration, and investigations is required. The role involves working with internal and external bodies to achieve objectives, monitoring service providers, gathering data, producing performance reports, and implementing corrective action. The role also involves conducting legal case preparation and presentation, researching and diagnosing complex problems, developing innovative strategic solutions, and collaborating with partners on joint action plans.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Excellent levels of numeracy and literacy
- Equivalent professional or industry qualifications directly relevant to the job profile
- Experience of using office-based IT systems, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
- Physically fit with the ability to walk long distances
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Occasional work from other locations, evenings, and weekends
