The Senior Highways Engineer role is key to enabling us to achieve this goal, working in a team of professionals delivering major projects for the borough. Highway improvement projects are scattered around the borough, some of the projects include works within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Royal Docks and Canning Town area. These are multimillion pounds in value and Newham will be delivering these projects over the coming years.

The post-holder will need to support the Senior Project Manager to help the delivery of the projects and work with a team of professionals. It is expected that the suitable candidate will be strong in highway design using AutoCAD and other relevant software and have experience in level design. The post-holder is expected to visit sites as and when required to manage works on site and deal with contractors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working on projects from preliminary design through to implementation of the scheme on site and managing junior staff, supervision of site and external contractors/consultants on a day-to-day basis.
