We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Employment Coach – Horticulture to join the Preparing for Employment team within Adult Social Care at the London Borough of Newham. This role supports adults with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs to develop skills, confidence and independence through gardening and outdoor activities.

You will deliver structured horticultural sessions, supporting residents to take part in activities such as planting, maintaining green spaces and caring for community gardens. These activities help build practical skills, teamwork and responsibility, supporting progression into volunteering, community participation and employment. This is a rewarding opportunity to combine horticulture with employment support, helping residents develop skills in a positive and engaging outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support residents to participate in gardening and horticulture activities
  • Develop practical skills, confidence and teamwork through structured sessions
  • Deliver outdoor projects aligned with support plans
  • Act as keyworker and support care plan reviews
  • Support access to community gardens and environmental projects
  • Provide personal care where required
  • Ensure safe use of gardening tools and equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and activity logs
About You

You will be a practical, enthusiastic and supportive individual with an interest in gardening, horticulture or outdoor work. You will enjoy helping residents learn new skills, build confidence and take part in meaningful activities that promote independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications
  • Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience or knowledge of horticulture or environmental work is desirable
