Purpose of the Role
To ensure the safety, wellbeing, and good behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period, both in the classroom, dining hall and in the playground, supporting a positive and safe environment in line with the school’s ethos and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pupils in the classroom, dining hall, encouraging good table manners, appropriate behaviour, and healthy eating habits.
- Assist pupils where necessary (e.g., opening lunch boxes, cutting up food, supporting younger children).
- Monitor and manage pupil behaviour, following the school’s behaviour policy.
- Supervise pupils during playtime, ensuring safe and inclusive play, and promoting positive interactions.
- Deal with minor first aid incidents and report any accidents, injuries, or concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Encourage positive relationships among pupils and help resolve minor disputes in a fair and supportive manner.
- Set up, tidy, and clean the dining areas and equipment as required.
- Work effectively as part of a team of midday staff to ensure smooth running of lunchtime provision.
