The Applications Team at Lewisham Council is passionate about supporting and advancing the council's IT systems, directly improving the services provided to Lewisham residents. Our team combines Portfolio Managers, Application Specialists and Application Analysts who work together seamlessly to put the user at the heart of delivery.
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Application Specialist to join our IT & Digital Service team. In this key role, you'll help shape and support our Oracle Cloud HCM platform, ensuring it continues to deliver an excellent service to the organisation and its employees. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of complex system issues, lead system enhancements, support strategic projects, and work closely with stakeholders to maximise the value of our Oracle Cloud investment.
What you'll be doing: As our Oracle Cloud HCM Application Specialist, you will:
- Investigate and resolve complex Oracle Cloud HCM incidents, working through issues from initial diagnosis to successful resolution.
- Lead the delivery of system enhancements and developments, managing changes from requirements gathering and specification through to testing, implementation and post-go-live support.
- Coordinate and support integrations between Oracle Cloud and feeder systems, including solutions delivered through Oracle PaaS.
- Manage Oracle quarterly updates, system maintenance activities, and testing to ensure continued service stability and compliance.
- Work closely with our third-party support partners to resolve technical issues and deliver service improvements.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders, helping them make the best use of Oracle Cloud HCM functionality and processes.
- Support and deliver medium-scale projects that enhance and develop our Oracle environment.
- Line manage and develop team members, providing leadership, coaching and support to help them succeed.

About you: You'll be an experienced Oracle Cloud professional with strong technical and analytical skills, capable of managing complex issues and driving continuous improvement. You'll be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, translating technical concepts into practical solutions and ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
You will have:
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud HCM, including Core HR, Payroll, Absence Management, OTL, ORC and BI Publisher
- Experience supporting, configuring and developing Oracle Cloud HCM to meet business needs.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience managing system changes and enhancements through the full delivery lifecycle.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to build effective working relationships across technical and business teams.
- Previous experience of leading or mentoring staff, with the ability to support and develop others.
Location: The job is remote (UK based only)/hybrid but there may be occasional need to come to the office at Laurence House for team meetings or workshops.
