The Lewisham HR team is a critical part of enabling the Council to make such valuable contributions to our community.

As an HR adviser you will work with managers to ensure our colleagues are able to deliver exceptional public services for Lewisham residents. In this role you will support the management of a range of employee relations matters. You will provide expert advice to support the case management of discipline, grievance, capability and sickness policies in a range of front-line operational teams across the Council.

This post will suit an individual with experience of providing HR advice in an operational context in the public sector. The work is fast paced, and you will need to draw on your HR expertise to provide pragmatic advice with confidence and autonomy. You will need to build trusted and enduring relationships with managers and leaders. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the HR function and the wider organisation and contribute to initiatives to build effective workforce management capability; enshrining a consistent, data-driven, considered and values-based approach in all that we do.

We operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. You will be required to attend our Council locations at least two days a week. As this role interfaces with many front-line service, the usual pattern is that you will attend our head office in Catford and our operational depot in Ladywell at least once per week.

Chartered membership of the Institute of Personnel and Development or demonstrable equivalent experience required. The recruitment process is anonymous and we don’t accept CVs.
