Starting salary £51,228 rising in annual increments to £54,360 per annum. Hybrid working.

About the Team:

The Tenancy Enforcement Team is the Council’s frontline service committed to preventing anti-social behaviour (ASB) and tackling ASB at an early stage, to ensure tenants and leaseholders feel safe and secure in their homes and in their neighbourhoods. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably motivated and skilled individual to join the team working to prevent and tackle antisocial behaviour.

About the Role:

The Tenancy Enforcement Litigation Officer role forms part of the Council’s approach to tackling nuisance and antisocial behaviour in the borough. Your role will be:

  • Advising the Council on high-level complex legal and factual matters with major implications for contracts/relationships between the Council; consultants; contractors, as well as, for the Council’s financial resources across Residential Services.
  • Representing the Council’s financial interests and reputation in challenging, and sometimes novel disputes across a multitude of subjects requiring creative, innovative and flexible solutions.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and advising on risk exposure; compliance; policies; legislation; service practice and/or provisions affecting Residential Services, as well as, making recommendations for improvements/efficiencies and guiding implementation.
  • Making decisions that have a major impact on Residential Services’ provisions; resources; revenue; tenants; leaseholders; related organisations and other members of the public.
  • Managing regularly conflicting priorities and deadlines, as well as, travelling to and attending various County Courts and Magistrate Courts and working remotely from disagreeable and/or difficult surroundings/conditions.

To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of advocating for/representing clients in legal proceedings before the County Courts and Magistrate Court.
  • Evidence of monitoring Pre-Action Protocol and Court Issue Process.
  • Experience of instructing external experts; solicitors and/or barristers as necessary.
